Worth knowing before you rely on this

  • A notaire must handle the estate where it includes real estate, a will or a marriage contract.
  • Children are protected by the réserve héréditaire: one half of the estate with one child, two thirds with two, three quarters with three or more.
  • A surviving spouse chooses between a quarter of the estate outright and the whole estate in usufruct where all the children are common.
  • This is a simplified estimate for one heir. Business, farm and main-home reliefs, disability allowances and lifetime gifts all change the answer. Get advice before filing.

Your estimate: €0. A specialist inheritance adviser in France routinely saves families more than their own fee, through reliefs and elections this estimate cannot apply. Free quote →
