URSSAF declaration (monthly or quarterly) · about €1,578

You declare turnover and pay contributions every month or quarter, and a nil declaration is still compulsory in a quiet period.

Before you rely on this

  • Contributions are charged on turnover, not profit, so the regime suits low-cost activities and punishes high-cost ones.
  • There are turnover ceilings for the regime and separate, lower ones for staying outside VAT.
  • Health cover comes through the general scheme, and pension rights accrue from the contributions paid.
  • Contribution rates and thresholds are revised at least every year, and personal circumstances (dependants, other income, regional schemes) move the number. Treat this as a planning figure, not a filing.

VAT is not included above: it is collected from your clients and passed on, so it never was your money, but the periodic return is compulsory whether or not you owe anything.

Your estimate: €1,384 a month take-home as a micro-entrepreneur / auto-entrepreneur. An accountant in France usually costs less per year than a single mistimed filing, and will tell you which regime actually fits your numbers. Free quote →
